News: Swedish artist wins International Award

The winners of the Third International Manga Award have been announced, and among the ten recipients, chosen from the 303 entries from all over the world, was Swedish artist Yosh from Yokaj Studios. She did the comic Under Ytan (Below the surface) which can be read here (in Swedish).

The award was initiated to encourage artist in the rest of the world to make comics inspired by the Japanese comics tradition. Here's the official announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan, and the Japanese Embassy in Sweden has also issued an official statement about Yosh and the competition.

I can only add that this was very well deserved and that I hope more Swedes will partake in  future competition, so that we move from being in the category "Others" to being a category in ourselves.

Oh, and a big, hearty congratulations to you, Yosh!
