OK, so the news is out. There will be a Swedish Invasion the next spring. The American publisher Top Shelf, in collaboration with the Swedish publisher Galago and the Swedish Comics Association, will launch a bunch of new books with Swedish artists in April, just in time for the MoCCA festival in New York.
Which books will be published can be seen on Top Shelf's own site, where they have a special section in their catalogue for "The Swedish Invasion". My humble contribution will be a new, updated, much expanded and full-colour version of the book Swedish Comics History.
That Swedish artists are being promoted in this way abroad has never happened before and as I am privy to quite a lot of knowledge of what is in the pipeline, both when it comes to translations and promotion, exhibitions etc., I can promise you, it will only get better. Stay tuned!
