News: Malmö explodes with comics

A few days ago there was a major article in the biggest daily Swedish magazine Dagens Nyheter about the comics culture in Malmö, naming Malmö the comics capital of Sweden. A good article, showcasing some of all the talented artist to come from Malmö the last few years.

Making three-dimensional magic

One of the main parts of the planned comics museum in Tidö, Sweden, will be three-dimensional representations of classical comics characters. Above can be seen the workshop of the artist creating these right now. They will be painted before they are ready to be shown publicly, but I must say that the eerie feeling of all these white statues, gathered together, made me wish that atleast some of them could stay in this way.

The other guests have arrived, and they include artist Lasse Åberg, the president of the Swedish Comics Academy Sture Hegerfors, the toy-expert Peter Pluntky, Thomas Storn from the Swedish Comics Archive and the classical comics creator Gösta Gummesson with his wife Ingrid. An eclectic collection of people... This and a castle from the 17th century will most likely make for an interesting evening.

A comics museum to be

Today I have travelled across the length of Sweden to finally arrive at Tidö castle in Västmanland. I have been invited, along with other persons from the comics business, to look at and discuss a comics museum which is supposed to open in about a year.

In the photo can be seen the curator Hans Cedergran and Thomas Storn from the Swedish Comics Archive.

More to come on this, when I can get access to the Internet...
