Reccomendation: Hall of Fame

One of the more interesting book series that Egmont has published the last few years is, in my humble opinion, Hall of Fame; books focusing on single artists working with Disney comics. The Disney comics are among the most well-read in the world, but the artists behind them rarely get the attention they deserve. Nowadays you can at least read who has done what in most Disney publications, but these books go much further, with interviews, biographies, analyses of artistic signifiers, comments by the artists to specific comics and so on. In short, well made books that fill existing holes in any comics library.
In Sweden, the publishing schedule of Hall of Fame has eroded, though, dwindling down to almost only Don Rosa books, which I think is a shame. There's nothing wrong with Rosa's comics, mind you, but there are so many more artists who have been working with Disney comics these past 80 years or so...

I was recently made aware of the fact that in Norway, Hall of Fame is still going strong, which means that there are a lot of interesting Hall of Fame volumes available only in Norwegian. Besides additional volumes with perennial masters like Gottfredson, Murry, Rota and Cavazzano, there are new volumes with the likes of Norwegian artist Arild Midthun; Kinney and Hubbard's classical 60's comics with Cousin Fethry; the Dutch brothers Bas and Mau Heymans; the old craftsman Dick Moores (OK so he's not my favourite, but the book is still fascinating, with insightful essays by the Swedish Disney expert Germund von Wowern) and so on.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that these volumes exists, and recommend that if you, like me, are interested in the facts behind some of the most popular comics in the world, look these books up at an internet book seller that stocks Norwegian books. Here are some more covers to these original volumes.
