I just got the news that the Swedish children's magazine Tivoli med vänner (Tivoli with friends) has been cancelled. This is really sad but not unexpected, as putting out a monthly magazine without the support of any of the major publishers is a night impossible task. We'll just have to console ourselves with the issues published and the fact that Tivoli gave a lot of Swedish artists the incentive to create comics for a younger audience. I just hope that Positiv Förlag will keep publish children's comics in book format, an undertaking which is easier to manage than a monthly magazine, because we really need more new Swedish children's comics.
Too bad. Competition is always healthy, and I will miss checking out the new issues.

ReplyDeleteI know there are a lot of parents and kids (enough) out there that would love Tivoli if they gave it a try.
